Lafayette is a wonderful place to live, with a community of friendly people and a lifestyle that is second to none. The city was founded in the 1880s as a mining town and is now known for its historic buildings, charming small-town atmosphere, and beautiful views.

Lafayette is in the heart of the Rocky Mountains in Northern Colorado. It was one of the first rural towns in Boulder County to be incorporated and is home to families, business professionals, singles, and retirees. It is only 30 minutes from Denver and 20 minutes from Boulder.

Lafayette is a city built on the mountains, and its homes are designed to take advantage of the view. This means residents can enjoy a beautiful view from the comfort of their own homes. There are a significant number of historic homes and buildings to admire around the community. Many of these were built in the late 1800s and early 1900s and are examples of the fine examples of architecture that this community has to offer.

Local Lifestyle

Lafayette is in a mountainous area in the Northern part of the state of Colorado. It is a natural and peaceful place to live. Locals visit Waneka Lake Park, arguably the most popular park nearby, which also allows for paddleboarding and fishing on the water. In addition to the beauty, the community offers many recreational opportunities. 

The town holds community events like the Fourth of July Parade, the Cinco de Mayo Celebration, and the annual New Year’s celebration. Lafayette, Colorado, is a small-but-growing community located a few miles from booming cities. It is an exciting place to live if you love the outdoors with its beautiful natural scenery and small-town feel.

Dining, Entertainment & Shopping

The downtown area in Lafayette is a beautiful place to walk, and Public Road is filled with cafes, wine bars, restaurants, and shops. Residents can walk around the downtown area to the grocery store, the post office, the bank, and other functional locations. You can get Mexican, Italian, Asian, Greek, and American cuisine here.

Liquid Mechanics Brewing Company is an award-winning community favorite that connects people and serves soulful food and craft drinks. Efrain’s is a hip, hole-in-the-wall eatery that serves Northern Mexican cuisine with fiery flavors and chilies. 

Acreage Stem Ciders is a stunning venue with a main dining room, outdoor deck, and cider garden, all with mountain views. The urban cider house is a unique experience that serves fresh cider and American cuisine. 

East Simpson Coffee Company is a charming coffee house that hosts community events that showcase artwork, music, and local cuisine. East Simpson also serves fresh-baked pastries, soups, salads, burritos, coffee, and more.

Things to Do

The community of Lafayette offers residents many attractive opportunities to enjoy the outdoors. One of the most popular activities is to enjoy the local mountains, hiking trails, and fishing. The aforementioned Waneka Lake Park is a well-kept area that offers different water activities like paddle boats, kayaks, and canoes. The park also has a playground and open grass areas for leisure activities. There are also many events to enjoy in the park, like Sunset Paddle, Summer Solstice Party, Yoga, and more. 

Bring the kids to city-wide annual events like the Easter egg hunt, movies in the park, and farmers' markets. Lafayette’s signature event is the Lafayette Peach Festival, where 30,000 pounds of peaches are peddled every August. A town staple, the Peach Festival also entertains with live performances, arts and crafts booths, and food (besides peaches).  

Finally, Indian Peaks Golf Course is a premier course with 18-holes and more than 7,000 yards of meticulously maintained grass.

Schools

Boulder Valley School District has 56 schools and serves more than 11 communities, including Lafayette. It is consistently ranked as a top district with a high graduation rate and SAT scores. Students may attend:
